What is Peer Support?
Overview
knus is designed to empower people — helping you feel less alone, more understood, and more confident in navigating what you’re going through. By sharing experiences openly, we help challenge stigma and create connection without judgement.
If you’re struggling, you can reach out and register with knus to speak with a trained peer support coach. Support is available, and you don’t have to face this on your own.
Empowerment
Peer support helps individuals feel empowered by providing a platform for them to share their experiences, challenges, and successes. The process of sharing and listening to others' experiences can boost confidence and increase self-awareness.
Social connection
Mental illness can often lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Peer support provides a space for individuals to connect with others who understand and empathise with their experiences. This connection can reduce feelings of loneliness and promote socialisation.
Sharing of knowledge and experiences
Peer support groups provide a platform for individuals to share their knowledge and experiences with others, providing a wealth of information that may be useful in managing mental health issues.
Reduced stigma
Peer support can help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness by providing a platform for individuals to share their experiences and challenge common misconceptions about mental health.
Improved mental health outcomes
Peer support has been shown to improve mental health outcomes, including symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. This is likely due to the many benefits of peer support, including increased social support, empowerment, and the sharing of knowledge and experiences.
