For times when we’re not available or in the event of an emergency, here are some useful numbers.

The following contacts are for the United States.  Other countries numbers may vary.


It’s an emergency

If you or someone else is in immediate danger or facing a life-threatening emergency (e.g., medical emergency, serious self-harm):

  1. Call 911 right now
  2. Go straight to your nearest emergency department

Ask someone to help if you’re unable to do this yourself.

Remember, you’re not wasting anyones time. Your mental health is important.

Here is a list of listening services that you can contact:

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Call, text, or chat 988 anytime — free, confidential, and available 24/7. You’ll be connected to trained counselors who can offer immediate emotional support, help de-escalate crisis situations, and connect you with local resources if needed. 


Crisis Text Line

Text HOME to 741741 (or HOLA for Spanish) to connect with a trained volunteer counselor via text message. This service is free, confidential, and available 24/7.


SAMHSA National Helpline

Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) for confidential information and referrals for mental health and substance use support services. 


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI offers education, support, and referral services through local affiliates across the U.S. Visit nami.org or call the NAMI HelpLine for guidance on support groups and community resources in your area.
