Our why
About us
Change the way we seek mental health support, for the better, forever.
knus was born from lived experience and a genuine desire to help others. Seven years ago, our founder faced the most difficult period of his life, experiencing a severe mental health breakdown and beginning a long journey toward recovery.
During that time, and especially through the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic - one truth became clear: peer support matters. What began as a personal commitment to support just one person has grown into something much bigger.
From developing accredited anxiety-support courses to creating a peer support training program, knus was built on the values of empathy, connection, and hope. Each step helped shape a service rooted in understanding and shared experience.
What started with a single volunteer has grown into a community of more than 800 volunteers. At knus, we believe no one should face mental health challenges alone - because sometimes the most powerful support comes from someone who truly understands.
To always be ‘by your side’ when you need mental health peer support.
Unlike traditional services, knus connects you with peer support coaches who truly understand - because they’ve lived it themselves.
Every peer supporter brings lived experience of mental health challenges or similar life journeys, offering more than support alone. They offer empathy, understanding, and hope rooted in real experience.
Once you join, you’ll be matched with a dedicated Peer Support Coach who will walk alongside you. We’ll be clear about how long you’ll be working together, so you know what to expect every step of the way.
